Glasgow is marking its 850th anniversary with an exciting initiative aimed at getting young people active and engaged in sport. The Activ850 Summer Sports Programme will provide funding for local voluntary sports clubs and community organisations to support sporting programmes during the 2025 summer holidays.
This fund will enable young people across the city to take part in sports, have fun and celebrate this historic milestone through activities in their local community.
Grants of £850 will be awarded to one organisation in each of Glasgow’s 23 City Council wards. Funding can be used for equipment, venue hire, coaching fees and initiatives to help reduce participant costs, ensuring accessibility for all.

Glasgow based voluntary sports clubs and organisations that have demonstrated a commitment to promoting sports activities for children and young people.
Programme must include a minimum of 5 days of sports activity throughout the summer.
One-off trips or events will not be considered for support.
The fund must be used for equipment, venue hire, coaching fees as well as help to reduce participant fees or provide free spaces at activities from Monday 30th June to Tuesday 12th August 2025.
All application forms must be submitted by Friday 16th May 2025 to be considered.
Applications will be evaluated based on programme impact, feasibility and inclusivity.
The panel will award one grant of £850 per Glasgow City Council ward.
This is public funding so you will be asked to provide your organisations governing document and proof of suitable bank account.
By applying for this funding, the expectation is that your organisation has appropriate Safeguarding and Vulnerable Groups policy and procedures and insurance cover in place.
